Cable Trays - What are they good for?
25 October 2021
The bigger the space, the more power and data you will need, and the further these cables will need to travel. It’s not always an option to run cable up walls and into ceiling spaces; often exposed ceilings are what we have to work with, and these ceilings can get pretty crowded. Lighting, air ducts and cabling are all part of a large commercial space, and cable trays are a way to make that space look much neater, as well as providing a cost-effective and efficient alternative to conduit.
Cable Trays are used for supporting large quantities of cable overhead safely. Usually made from perforated galvanised steel, their design protects against overheating and fire build up problems, and also minimises damage to the cables. They will come in various depths and strengths depending on how heavy their load will be. You’d definitely be surprised at how heavy cable can be. Some trays are strong enough to hold about 90kgs of cable per 3 meter length!
Our team have worked a lot with cable trays- from installing new to reusing old. It’s a safe and reliable product, easy to work with and more importantly, it lasts for years and years.
